Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is adding its first Business Intelligence Developer to our Information Technology team. Working alongside established Software Development and Systems Administration teams, and in partnership with our new and growing Data Analytics team, this Business Intelligence Developer will play a foundational and hands-on role in architecting and implementing the BI tools and technology at the heart of X-ES’ operations and business decision-making.

We are looking for an individual who feels confident in their ability to step into a greenfield, technical role and simultaneously provide the organization with strong technical leadership and consultation as well as contribute operationally on a daily basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Build ETL pipelines to consolidate X-ES’ disparate operational data into a single data warehouse and make it available to consumers, integrating data from both in-house business applications and off-the-shelf tools
• Configure, support and maintain data visualization and exploration tools for use by both technical and non-technical users
• Support Data Analytics team by creating new data sets and custom automations
• Implement new data pipelines as additional use cases and discovered and defined and/or as new data sources are established
• Monitor and maintain automated workflows to ensure the availability and accuracy of BI data and functionality

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience writing production code in a professional setting
• Graduation from an accredited high school (or valid General Educational Development certificate)
• Basic programming experience in Python
• Strong SQL experience (ideally in Postgres and MySQL); both in query writing and query performance optimization
• Prior experience managing one or more ETL tools such as Apache Airflow, dbt, SQLMesh, etc.
• Ability to produce high quality technical documentation of systems
• Implement automated testing and monitoring into BI systems to identify failures quickly and maintain a high level of availability and correctness
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools
• Working knowledge of version control systems/tools such as Git and GitLab
• Computer proficiency and a high level of organization with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work efficiently and independently
• Ability to work onsite from our facility located at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway in Verona, WI

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology or a related field
• Prior experience designing and implementing ETL systems or pipelines
• Prior experience with one or more data visualization/exploration or BI tools such as Apache Superset, Power BI, Looker or Metabase
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible
• Background working in on-premise / self-hosted environments, heavily leveraging open-source software
