Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is actively looking for an entry-level accountant for our Staff/Payroll Accountant opening. The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, demonstrate a willingness to learn new things, and exhibit strong attention to detail. This role primarily involves Accounting duties, with an additional focus on Payroll, comprising approximately 80% Accounting responsibilities and 20% Payroll tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting:

• Support the monthly close process, including preparing journal entries and updating FloQast
• Perform general ledger account analysis and monthly reconciliations
• Assist in preparing for our annual review, benefit plan audits, and multi-state income tax returns filings
• Responsible for vendor payments
• Provide support to A/P as needed, such as expense reports, POs, and insurance bills
• Analyze and record COGS
• Special projects as requested by Controller
• Support the development and performance management of the Finance team
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

Payroll:

• Process biweekly payroll for employees accurately and on time using payroll software (UKG Workforce Management)
• Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues that arise
• Address any payroll-related inquiries or concerns in a timely and professional manner
• Record payroll journal entries, including accruals, and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and laws

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with strong knowledge of GAAP; equivalent related work experience may be considered in lieu of required degree
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Computer proficiency and a high level of organization with clear attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Ability to work efficiently and independently
• Ability to work onsite from our facility located at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway in Verona, WI

Desired Qualifications

• Prefer zero to two (0-2) years of accounting experience in a manufacturing setting
• Experience with or understanding of payroll processing, fixed assets, and month-end close
• Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a professional and positive fashion
• Self-directed with a solid work ethic and drive to learn new skills
