Kintex UltraScale FPGAs
Cutting-Edge 20 nm Technology
The AMD (formerly Xilinx) Kintex UltraScale FPGA brings ASIC-class performance, clock management, and power management to a highly capable, next-generation 20 nm chip.
This user-programmable, reconfigurable FPGA enables increased system performance from its 8.2 TeraMACs of DSP compute performance, multiple speed grades, and 16G backplane-capable transceivers.
Kintex UltraScale keeps a focus on cost-effective, performance-oriented logic processing with its next-generation stacked silicon interconnect (SSI) technology and high DSP and block RAM-to-logic ratios.
Scalable, Rapid-Transmitting Signaling
Boasting more than half a million LEs, 424,000 logic cells, and almost 2,000 DSP slices, as well as Gen3 PCI Express interfaces, the highly-capable Kintex UltraScale FPGA is able to rapidly receive and transmit signals in even the harshest of environments to ensure signal integrity when it matters most.
X-ES offers an FPGA Development Kit (FDK) for our boards that support the Kintex UltraScale FPGA, which includes an X-ES tested and proven example design that assists developers and allows them to focus on application development and not on hardware integration.

Artix-7 FPGAs
Twice the Performance, Half the Power
The AMD (formerly Xilinx) Artix-7 is a low-density family of FPGAs and an industry leader in transceiver optimization. The Artix-7 family offers the highest performance for the lowest power of any low-end FPGA on the market.
Based on TSMC’s 28 nm process technology, the Artix-7 incorporates 6.6 Gb/s transceivers permitting 211 Gb/s ultimate bandwidth while operating on 50% less power than preceding Series 7 generations.
Boosting Innovation in Embedded Systems
AMD (formerly Xilinx) Artix-7 FPGAs meet the unique requirements of size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C) required by the aerospace, defense, and communications industries.
Highly versatile and cost-effective, the Artix-7 boasts an impressive array of features while maintaining the industry’s best performance-to-power ratio among low-end FPGAs. Its remarkable efficiency makes the Artix-7 an excellent choice for a diverse set of applications including medical, software-defined radio, and military equipment.
Why We Use the Artix‑7
X-ES primarily uses the AMD (formerly Xilinx) Artix-7 as an FPGA-based VME-to-PCIe bridging solution. Chosen for its long life, high performance-per-watt, and cost efficiency, the Artix-7 has proven to be an effective substitute for the discontinued Tsi148 VME bridge.
The Artix-7 is also a familiar architecture for our engineers, who have incorporated AMD Artix-, Kintex-, and Virtex-7 FPGAs into many X-ES board designs. Our extensive experience with the 7 Series serves as the basis for continued innovation.
