Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES), a leader in board- and system-level embedded computing solutions for commercial and military applications, and GET Engineering, a leader in tactical data system solutions (including NTDS, ATDS and STANAG) for military and industrial applications, announce an alliance to provide integrated tactical data system and VPX solutions.
X-ES has integrated the GET Engineering Airborne Tactical Data System (ATDS) PMC module into its Avionics Development Platform (ADP). This effort involved mounting the ATDS PMC onto the conduction-cooled XChange3000 3U VPX XMC/PMC carrier, integrating the ATDS PMC driver into Linux, and developing a 3U VPX Rear Transition Module (RTM), the XIt1072, to provide an I/O path for a conduction-cooled ATDS PMC module during development.
The ADP is a prepackaged 3U OpenVPX™ development platform that provides functionality and I/O required by avionics applications. The ADP supports conduction-cooled payload modules and air-cooled RTMs.
Development benefits of the ADP include:
- Easy I/O access via air-cooled RTMs
- Straightforward migration to deployable flight systems: payload hardware modules used in the ADP during development are used in X-ES’s XPand3200 Series and XPand4200 Series ½ ATR solutions
- Simplified software migration: software developed on the ADP runs without modification on the deployed system
GET Engineering is providing PMC-based tactical data system products integrated with the X-ES XChange3000 conduction- or air-cooled 3U VPX-REDI XMC/PMC carrier. This complements GET Engineering’s existing PMC, PCI, cPCI, VME, and ISA-based solutions by allowing GET Engineering to provide better support and solutions to customers developing 3U VPX-based systems. These integrated 3U VPX products support NTDS, ATDS, and STANAG protocols. In addition, for ATDS requirements, GET Engineering is providing the XIt1072 3U VPX RTM to enable customers to support rear I/O in conduction-cooled 3U VPX development systems.
